Voittr Link Player for Chrome and Safari

Turn shared Voittr recording, profile and thread links into inline audio players on websites you allow.

Voittr Link Player turns shared recording, profile and thread links into inline audio players. Press Play to listen. Audio never starts automatically.

Chrome

Download the Chrome extension ZIP and extract it. Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder.

Open a page with a Voittr link, click the Voittr toolbar icon, then choose Enable on this site. Approve Chrome's site-access request. Links become players automatically on future visits to that site, including links added while you stay on a page. To turn this off and restore the original links, open the icon again and choose Disable on this site. After updating from version 0.1.0, enable each site again.

This is a developer installation package. It is not a Chrome Web Store listing.

Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad

Requires iOS/iPadOS 18.4 or macOS 15.4 and later.

The Safari source package contains the shared extension and Apple's native wrapper project. Build and sign the wrapper in Xcode for your own device, then enable Voittr Link Player in Safari's Extensions settings and allow access to the websites you choose.

This is a source package for developer installation, not an App Store download. Safari requires a signed native wrapper. On iPhone and iPad, the containing app must be installed on your device before the extension can be enabled in Safari.

Which links become players?

Recording, profile and thread links on voittr.com are supported, including older /recordings/ and /profiles/ links. Reply links remain normal links to the exact reply in Voittr. Plain-text URLs are also recognized outside editors and code blocks. Other Voittr pages keep their normal links.

Players show public recordings only. Profile players show up to 10 recent public recordings. Thread players include the thread's publicly accessible recordings. Use Open link to return to the original destination, or Restore link to remove a player from the current page.

Some websites prevent third-party frames through their own security policy. On those sites, use Open link. Browser internal pages, browser extension stores, PDF viewers and other protected surfaces do not allow extension content scripts.

Permissions and privacy

Chrome uses the toolbar click to identify the current site and requests persistent access only when you choose Enable on this site. Access covers the selected HTTP or HTTPS hostname, including its ports. Approved-site choices stay in Chrome; you can revoke access in the popup or Chrome's extension settings. Safari uses the websites you allow in its Extensions settings. This access lets the extension find Voittr links in non-editable page content. The extension does not read form fields, access browser history, send page text to Voittr, or load analytics. A player contacts Voittr when loaded; audio loads only when you press Play. The visited page's URL is not sent as the player's referrer.

Player requests include the public Voittr link identifier and ordinary network metadata. Voittr retains operational request logs, including IP address, requested URL, response status, timing and errors, for service security and administration until log storage rotates them. See the Privacy Policy for retention and service-provider details. The extension does not require a Voittr account.

Voittr Link Player uses website information only to find and play public Voittr links and provide secure, reliable delivery. Its use of this information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The same public audience checks apply to previews, Markdown and audio. Signed-in access on Voittr does not unlock private or follower-only recordings inside this extension. If a recording becomes unavailable, open its link in Voittr to check your access.
